Honsyhu, Japan 2011
1st Quake
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued an advisory tsunami in the country after a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 hit the northeastern zone.

Japan earthquake 3rd day March 2011: 7.2 earthquake in Japan Tokyo ‘There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but officials are still assessing the situation. The quake struck at 11:45 local time clock on Wednesday and was centered about 300 miles north of Tokyo. The meteorological agency says the quake hit at 11:45 local time clock on Wednesday and was about 300 kilometers north of Tokyo at a depth of 10 km centered.

The advice, on Wednesday said that the tsunami height expected to be about 0.5 meters.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred about 169 kilometers off the east coast of Honshu.

Japan’s government broadcaster NHK reported that the focus of the tremor was 10 km (6 miles) below the surface of the earth, off the coast of Aomori Prefecture.

Japan, with a large earthquake zone, earthquakes in different sizes seen in the region frequently. Apart from frequent low intensity earth tremors and occasional volcanic activity, destructive earthquakes, tsunamis, which are common to several times per century.

Sendai, Japan 2011
2nd Quake

As tragic news from Japan continues to roll in following one of the largest earthquakes in recorded history, many are turning to scientists for answers: Could today's disaster have been predicted?

Some press reports have criticized seismologists for failing to forecast the force and location of the magnitude-8.9 earthquake -- which was stronger and hundreds of miles north of the site that, as CNN reports, Japan's government has worried since 1976 will be struck by a massive tremor. In an article boldly titled, "Japan: The 'Big One' hit, but not where they thought it would," The Washington Post's Joel Achenbach states:

Scientists today said the event has once again humbled them, reinforcing a growing sense that the field of seismology needs to ditch some of its presumptions about major earthquakes. But the truth is that the scientific community has never claimed the ability to precisely forecast a quake, even though seismological analysis has made massive strides in recent decades with the development of real-time global-monitoring technology.

"We can't predict earthquakes," Dr. Daniel McNamara, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey,"It's a very complex system."

McNamara described seismology as a relatively new science, still "in its infancy," and said that while seismologists can now locate an earthquake anywhere in the world within 10 minutes and "give reasonable warning for volcanic activity and tsunami," ironclad earthquake-predicting capabilities are still beyond the field's reach.

That doesn't mean, however, that Japan's decades preparing for a large earthquake southeast of Tokyo -- dubbed the "Great Tokai Earthquake" -- were in vain, McNamara said. "If you find a scientist that has been studying a specific region and predicting an earthquake and one occurs out of that region, they will say it’s a surprise, but it's still an active region," he said.To that point, Friday's massive quake was "not a surprise at all," according to McNamara -- "it's a very active region."

As for the implications this earthquake has in relation to other seismic activity around the world, McNamara said science hasn't developed to the point to be able to make those kind of inferences. He "wouldn't dismiss the possibility" of a connection to the recent quake in New Zealand, or even the possibility of a quake coming to California -- as they are connected to the same plate system -- but "there's no way to prove it at this point," he said.

Though some believe earthquake activity to be increasing in frequency and strength around the world, McNamara said this isn't the case. "The 1960s were more active than now," he said. "One of the issues is that we have much better technology than decades past, so we can report on earthquakes more than ever before."

McNamara emphasized that the same progress with technology is apparent in the media, only adding to the perception that these events are occurring at shrinking intervals. But he noted that other than aftershock tremors, no increased seismic activity has been noticed in any areas near Japan's enormous earthquake since the quake hit.

Earthquake Series Vol.2 @ China

Yunnan Province, China 2011

An earthquake toppled more than 1,000 houses and apartment buildings in China's southwest near the border with Myanmar on Thursday, killing at least 24 people and injuring more than 200, officials and state media said.Photos from the scene showed buildings that buckled, crushing their lower floors. Police, firefighters and soldiers rushed to the area to pull out people trapped in the rubble, including a man and girl stuck in the stairwell of a four-story building, according to state broadcaster China Central Television.

Parts of a supermarket and a hotel caved in, while sidewalks were lined with injured on blankets, being shielded from the sun by large vendor umbrellas. The official Xinhua News Agency reported that 24 people had been killed, including four students, citing the Yingjiang county government in Yunnan province. Another 207 people were injured, 33 of them in critical condition. The website of the Chinese government earthquake monitoring station said the magnitude-5.8 quake was centered in Yingjiang and struck just before 1 p.m. (0500 GMT) at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers). The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake at a magnitude of 5.4 and at a deeper 21 miles (35 kilometers).

Some 1,200 houses or apartments were crushed by the quake, said Zhao Yunshan, director of Yingjiang government press office. More than 127,000 people have been evacuated to nearby shelters, Xinhua reported, citing the Civil Affairs Ministry.According to the USGS, more than 1 million people may have been exposed to the worst shaking.

Vice President Xi Jinping, expected to be the country's next leader, called for an "all-out" effort to get food, water and clothing to those affected by the quake, Xinhua said.More than 1,000 soldiers have been sent to aid in rescue efforts, the news agency said. The quake hit while many people, including students, were home for a customary midday rest, CCTV reported.

Tremors continued to be felt in the area throughout the afternoon and evening, according to CCTV reporter Shu Qian, who was at the disaster scene in Yingjiang County. The quake's epicenter was in Shiming Village, just over a mile (two kilometers) from the county seat, but triggered a power outage across Yingjiang, which has a population of about 300,000 people, Xinhua said.

By evening, the power supply was still cut off, though water and communications didn't appear to be damaged, Shu said.A government team that includes the Civil Affairs Ministry has been dispatched to the quake-stricken area, CCTV said. About 5,000 tents, 10,000 quilts and 10,000 coats are also being sent from the central government. The mountainous area lies 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers) southwest of Beijing, close to the border with Myanmar, and is home to many ethnic groups on both sides of the border, which sees heavy traffic in people and goods.

Xinhua said the quake-prone region has been hit by more than 1,000 minor tremors over the past two months. The Myanmar Meteorological Department released a statement saying a quake had hit some 230 miles (370 kilometers) northeast of Mandalay, the country's second-largest city. The statement did not mention injuries, damage or the specific area of Myanmar most affected by the quake. Authorities in the tightly ruled country tend not to immediately discuss the effects of natural disasters.Much of the area on the Myanmar side been under the control of various armed ethnic groups, who have battled the Myanmar military to remain free from central government control.

Earthquake Series Vol.3 @ Myanmar

Yangon, Myanmar 2011

At least 25 people were killed and dozens of buildings destroyed when a strong earthquake struck Myanmar near the Thai border, according to information from officials in both countries Friday.

Tremors spread as far away as Bangkok, almost 800 kilometers from the epicenter, as well as to Hanoi and parts of China during the earthquake Thursday, which the U.S. Geological Survey, or USGS, measured at magnitude 6.8.

A Myanmar official warned that there could be "many more casualties" in the town of Tarlay, close to the epicenter, as he confirmed 11 men and 13 women had been killed when the quake struck.

"Five monasteries and 35 buildings collapsed in the town. Those people were killed when the buildings collapsed," said the official, who declined to be named, adding some areas were difficult to access because roads were damaged.

Authorities in Thailand have confirmed one woman was killed on the Thai side of the border.

Episode 3: Malaysian Comedies // Football

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Ever wondered why the malaysian way of playing football would be different from other? Do u notice how much they differ from the way that european playing, or goal-scoring, or tactically, or when dey get a fault and the mind-set of the player. Here is the thing i noted when i went and saw the game between Perak vs Harimau Muda A.

1) Goal-scoring

I dunno whether the player are too good for the goal keeper or they juz got their damn luck to score. By analysis, not all the goal scored in a professional way. Either if it is from a corner kick, or free kick, or even tricking the goal keeper. The most obvious thing that will look on the player is that they are playing football, but playing forcibly to score a goal. Yesterday, I saw the damn luck goal from free kick which is metres away from the d-box. the goal scored was from a direct kick, which the ball rebounces in front of the goal keeper and he was unable to stop it. i mean the ball got damn tyme to rebounce. What the hell the keeper was thinking of or was he late to judge the ball? hurmmm,,, malaysian football has not gone that far yet.

2) Counter-attack

It is still fresh in my mind when i had all morning stay awake to watch the last 16 of the UEFA champions league where hot favourites met arsenal. And it was so interesting to see that arsenal did the counter attack so well that barcelona defender could not cope up after the break from the midfield. Yesterday i saw a similar situation in that game ( REF: PRK vs HAR MUDA). Perak got a lot oif chances to the counter attack to juz run the ball to the d-box.instead wad the midfield done is to keep the ball with him and trying to cut through a player, then another the he lost the ball just like that. These are opportunities that cant be left when they got it.

3) Fault/Injury

Only in malaysian football i can c people acting so much that when they got the fault the will do like they had a broken leg injury and will do over-action?? is that necessary when playing football..for god's sake please grow up u guys... dont always expect people to feed u na??? And goalkeeper ( i'll explain in gk part).. seriously its just wasting de tyme so much and the fun of playing football is not there... please be supportive to the game..dun KILL it..

4) Goalkeeper

Malaysian goalkeepers are special. U noe y i say dat. yea it juz because they are twist of any football game. for example, perak snatch a freekick goal courtesy of the goal keeper cuz he led the ball to rebounce before him.... hahaha... a keeper let a goal by rebounce..that's shit to hear.. dun be a keeper if cant catch it..lol... and everyone noe dat ball dat comes in rebounce is not fast and easily catchable.... other than that,, u shud c de action of a gk once he saved or catch de ball. he will lie down on the ground for 10 second as if he had tried very hard to capture it.. lolx.... if this was bpl, the next 2 second s i can find the ball is in the midfield... wat the hell is wrong with malaysian gk..arent they trained enough??? haha... nice questions.... '

So to wrap up my blog here, i would like to say dat is not the fault of the people of not watching the football game.. Like Roslan(judge frm malaysian idol) said " i'm eating fish head curry without the fish" how would people watch when there no ingredient of entertainment, spirit, and courage,,, malaysian games are not watchables... my rating for malaysian football= lolx, rofl, lmao
